An everyday commuter bike can be defined in many ways and by no means am I one to say a particular style of bicycle is inappropriate. But I might cringe when someone says to me “oh, it’s just my commuter” implying that the commuter bike is disposable. No! Your commuter bicycle is the bike that gets ridden the most, it gets abused by city streets, it sees all weather, and it’s the bike that you will be seen on the most. It’s appropriate to take pride in your city bike for your city bike is an extension of your personal street style.
A few weeks ago a neighbor came in looking for a new commuter. Her once reliable steel framed Bianchi was sporting worn out components after 20 odd years of riding. We offered to rebuild her old mixte frame set but she took one look at the Soma Buena Vista we had on the sales floor and decided it was her time for a brand new bicycle
Soma frame sets are lively, quick chromoly frame sets, far more responsive than any steel bike from the 1990’s. Soma’s Buena Vista factory build is an awesome bike that we keep in stock but our neighbor wanted a little customization so this is what Ethan came up with.
At Queen City Cycle we tune new bikes, used bikes, department store bikes, and vintage bikes. Ethan makes sure all of these bicycles are safe and reliable for their owners.
Or if you would like a few suggestions for a new Soma Fabrications bicycle we can help answer those questions too.
